My instructions when I drop off a sick dog is always to do what Dr U thinks best. I've never been sorry. I want to give the shots he recommends, perform the tests he wants to run...
I have 19 years of experience with Blockhouse Creek Animal hospital. It's been 19 years of wonderful care of my beloved animals. Dr U has repeatedly saved the lives of my many dogs multiple times over. Dr U treated one of my dogs with a severe liver disease and it was only his wisdom that extended his life. I know how hard he works to save a patient. I trust him completely. When my dog's liver failed completely, Dr U was a comfort in how he handled a situation I can barely speak about 4 years later.
This vet always is very kind and understanding of my dog. I really appreciate knowing that they really have my pet's best interest at heart.
This clinic has always had a reputation for extremely incapable front desk workers! I found that they live up to that reputation.
I had an emergency with my African Grey Parrot on a Saturday in 2012 and rushed her in. They did accommodate me but I had to tell them what to do. They gave me oral medication to give her the next day instead of an injectable which I could have administered being a nurse. The oral medication they gave me was so thick that it could not be drawn up out of the bottle when it was time to give to her the next day. They had no emergency services, nobody to stay there with critical patients overnight. I lost my 27-year-old parrot that I had for 27 years due mostly to lack of interest on their part. (She should have lived twice as many years at least.) I went there in 2017 having known the groomer before she went to work at this clinic. I contacted her six weeks ahead of time and she agreed to view some tutorials on YouTube about an updated haircut style for a Maltese. When I got my dog back it was obvious that she had not done the homework she promised!!! I was very disappointed and I will never be back.

I’ve brought two of my exotic pets here now and the vets are amazing and don’t charge near as much as you would expect an emergency vet to. They are the best!!!
Dr Hodges makes farm calls out of my place and we love her. She successfully delivered a tricky breech presentation and literally saved one of the kids lives. My doeling would have died without her. They've successfully treated horses, goats, dogs, cats and pigs from my farm. I have few human doctors as good as the vets that work at blockhouse. They recruit from the best and unlike human doctors listen to what I tell them I've observed about their patients. They are an important component to my home farm.
Took my Bearded Dragon in to have it looked at and gave them specific instructions on which vet can see him. Not only were they rude and interrupted my conversation with the receptionist, but they also completely disregarded what I said and allowed another vet to see him. If they will not hold them selves accountable for who can see the pet when given specific and clear instructions, then I would not trust them with a pet at all. Going to try New Hope.
